Almost at the border with the French Alps, La Thuile is the ideal departure point for a holiday in the snow, "without frontiers", on the fabulous pistes straddling France and Italy. Located in the north-western corner of Italy, it dominates the impressive Rutor glacier and is just behind the Mont Blanc mountain range. Along the road that takes you to the "Piccolo San Bernardo" pass, La Thuile enjoys a good geographical position favouring abundant snowfalls on its pistes. The town is situated at an altitude of 1,450 m and consists of a nucleus of old stone houses, full of charm and character. The welcoming and comfortable atmosphere of La Thuile is apparent in the shops and boutiques, in the restaurants and in the after dinner spots that round off the day. Also not to be missed, for a bit of relaxation, is a trip to the sparkling, cosmopolitan resort of Courmayeur, and to the beautiful and charming medieval castles dotted along the Aosta Valley.

Together with the French resort of La Rosiere, La Thuile has one of the rare ski areas that straddle two countries. There are 150 km of pistes on Italian and French slopes. You can ski everywhere, with no borders, using the same ski pass, taking the ski lifts direct from your hotel. The ultramodern ski lifts and the abundant snowfalls make La Thuile a snowy paradise without queues or waiting. For cross-country skiing, there are 4 tracks of varying difficulty and length, for a total of 16 km. For infants there is an equipped play area in the snow near the bottom of the ski lifts. Children who would like to venture on to skis have a free ski lift to take them up the slope, so they needn't get tired out before enjoying their very first descent. The ski-school is famous for its efficiency.
